Less than two years after launching during lockdown in 2020, Summerley Recruitment have turned over more than £1million, supporting catering and hospitality businesses over an extremely difficult period.
Chichester recruitment agency Summerley Recruitment is celebrating a massive milestone having turned over more than £1million since lockdown ended for the events and hospitality industry in March 2021.
Summerley Recruitment was established in September 2020 by Sam Hickman to supply catering and hospitality businesses with temporary and permanent staff. The business was conceived during lockdown and Sam spent the winter of 2020 registering students to work for what he hoped would be a busy summer in 2021.
The hard work paid off and since then Summerley has gone from strength to strength, building on a successful 2021 with a packed summer schedule in 2022. They have supported prestigious events including
- The British Formula 1 Grand Prix at Silverstone
- Queens Tennis Tournament
- England Cricket matches at the Ageas Bowl
- Major football matches at Wembley Stadium
- Goodwood’s Festival of Speed
- Brighton Pride
- Victorious Festival in Southsea.
Over the recent August bank holiday weekend, Summerley Recruitment supplied 200 staff to work at various events across the south.
Summerley is based in an office at Donnington Business Park, Chichester, and currently employs two permanent staff members. The business will expand this autumn, opening a London office in Q4 and employing three further office staff to support the planned growth into 2023. Sam has lived in Bognor Regis all his life and went to school at Felpham Community College.

We have a few key months ahead with Christmas events and training our new office team members, then it’s full steam ahead ready for 2023!”
